Artist's Comments

I started this one in January. I had a difficult time getting into a groove so I just worked on it in between doing other paintings. I swore a lot at this painting but I'm happy with the outcome.

I think it's a bit of a departure for me in that there are surreal elements to it.

All your paintings are absolutely incredible, just like photographs! <3
awesome dude ... this is one of my favs of yours for sure - I love the color and serine feeling it portrays ... like a still life and landscape combo all in one - subtile use of the depth of field pulls the focus right to that cool little bare tree - i could easily see a seasonal series in this fashion - i wont bother you with any more of my "big blue balls" titles!

im glad u have said u started it back in jan, because if not you would have knocked this up at an incredible speed.. the subject, colours and composition are to me very impressive..

how large is this one?

another top piece of work for your show.!
Hmm...howabout Mono-Chrome-atic?
I mean, it's not monochromatic at all, but it's a nice play on words. Heh.

But seriously, I love the way this one looks. The scenery in the first orb is so detailed, and you've got the DoF down perfectly.
Again, I'm impressed! Well done!

~ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY~
the crisp coolness to the overall image along with the depth of field really makes the marbles recede, creating very good depth.

I do think you could have pushed the illusion farther with the addition of something like a warmish purple tone in that main focal marble. ( lol...hope you dont mind me saying that ? just a tiny crit )

I do really like this one though and it has got a different feel to your other works. Think you have some great paintings for your show, and it should be a great visual experience with all the differnet colour pallettes you been using lately.

Make sure you take lots of pictures of your artwork on the walls for us far away people who cant get over to see it ok.

faved  top work Mr de Graaf
