Hey Ja5on
I was just wondering what is like painting on masonite ? I have never tried it, is it smooth and whats the surface like is it porous ? great painting by the way.

Thanks for the compliment. I used to paint on masonite quite a bit before I switched to canvas...It's cheap and sturdy, but heavy. One side is usually smooth and the other has a sort of hatched texture on it. I would sand down the smooth side a bit and put on a layer of gesso, either start painting right away or sand the gesso some more or add another layer depending on how smooth I wanted it....I don't know of anybody who paints directly on masonite without priming it with gesso first.

Oh right its the same stuff that I use here but we call it panel or plywood. For some reason I always thought of it being something different. Most my stuff is on this now as I love the smoothness of the surface.
thanks anyway
