Fantastic paintings of course... But if you don't mind me asking: what makes you pick the subjects? Are they emotional attachments, do they convey (personal) meaning, or is it merely the challenge or even just money?

It changes a bit from painting to painting but there is always a reaction to the subject on my part, whether emotional or just aesthetic. Some paintings include artifacts from my life. In the end I want to make paintings that I want to see exist.

Wait - this isn't photography? I've been clicking through your pictures thinking it was from camera. You, sir, are amazingly good at painting.

It's interesting in this and others how you remove yourself, hence the viewer, from the image when dealing with reflections.   How can we be privy to the beautiful sight if we are not in it? :)

I like the dissonance created when the reflection that should be there is not.

Stunning! Stupid question but how do you paint such clean edges on the spheres? Steady hand or some elaborate brush in a compass?

Thanks! I draw the sphere with a compass, and it takes a few passes with thin enough paint to get the edges sharp.

i wonder how you create such sharpness when you're painting on a 24 x 36" canvass and even smaller... can't even distinguish where you're strokes are.. amazing! :) wonder what brushes you use..

Cheap brushes actually, Winsor & Newton series 235 mostly. I throw them out when they lose their spring. :)

Love the addition of the ice/snow, which is a really interesting new texture against the smoothness of the metal surface. You haven't played it up too much either, so it has a more delicate appeal.
