A Wave of Refreshment by ja5on A Wave of Refreshment by ja5on
I've really had a hard time getting the colours accurate in this image, the orange goes way too dark. I worked on it when I wasn't working on "Ocean View" in the past couple of months.

acrylic on canvas 24 x 30"

OK, to be frank: it is hard to belief that this is a painting, but who am I to judge. I did something similar with an apple dropping into water, only my painting isn't nearly as good as this one. I think the folks will belief this is a real painting if you post some photos which where taken while you were working on it, so we can see the progress.

Beautiful! :hooray: I love it! I like how you captured the geometric look of the faceted glass in the shadow. Is there more red in the orange slices shading in the original work? It looks kind of ochre.

Well I took a lot of photos of dropping orange slices in the glass of water, it took many to get one that I liked. I took photos of just the glass with water as well.

I'm just... not even seeing these as paintings anymore. All I see are pictures of random things that you claim is painted. I don't believe you anymore. These are impossible.

thats ridiculous!
i just started painting (i use acrylics)
im very new and bad at blending
how do you do it so well? do you use any kind of mediums or water down your paints?
how do you feel about oils?
Reply
:iconja5on:
ja5on Featured By Owner Jan 19, 2012  Professional Traditional Artist
I just use water to thin. It's a lot of thin layers of paint over a thicker base of colours blocked in. I've never used oils.

:iconshanedoss:

hmmm so when doing the thin layers youll wait for it to dry then go over again and again
or kind of go over while its kinda wet so they blend together?
